More support for Senator Albert as Ibiono Ibom Grand Alliance Kicks ….probe Justice Riman’s judgment

A foremost socio-political group in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area has again declared their unalloyed support to the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East in the 8th Senate, Senator Bassey Albert, Chair Senate Committee on Gas.

The group in a statement made available to the media in Uyo on Monday described the highly condemned judgment of Fatunn Riman as shocking and unacceptable. The statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Mr Daniel Udoh alias North South, Hon Emmanuel Udoh, Vice Chairman, Secretary Hon Okon Okon Essien, Mr Joseph Boniface for chapter co-ordinators, Madam Cecilia Uwah – Women Leader and Barr Daniel Thomas- Youth Leader indicated that they see the judgment as a great political, economic and social set back to Ibiono Ibom People in particular, Akwa Ibom North East and Akwa Ibom in general.

According to the group ’’This assertion we base it on the past and present character and performance of Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert Akpan. As a banker, Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom State and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria today, Senator Akpan has demonstrated that he is a real man of the people and a complete grassroots person who has the feeling of the down-trodden at heart. Senator Bassey Akpan has touched so many lives in Ibiono Ibom and Akwa Ibom State at large’’.

The group poured encomium on the Distinguished Senator with regard to his effectiveness, pragmatism, generosity, humility and the fear of God. ’’Talking about his representation of Akwa Ibom North East in the Red Chamber (Senate), Senator Bassey Albert Akpan is a clear testimony of effectiveness, dynamism, pragmatism, generosity and above all humility and the fear of God in his daily endeavours. Therefore, the choice and subsequent election of Senator Bassey Akpan for Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District is without regret and disappointment.  As a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he has performed creditably well to the admiration of his constituents and his fellow Senators’’ the statement stressed.

The further stated ’’We recall when we the electorate came out to vote freely and en-masse with a clear sense of responsibility for this great son of Akwa Ibom North East, Senator Bassey Albert at the primary and the election proper only to be told by a court that he never stood for the primary to us is quite shocking and we know the plaintiff in the said suit was nowhere to be found at the venue of the primary which violates both the Electoral Act and PDP guidelines’’.

IBGA emphasized that they are confused with all that is going on as the primary and subsequent election was properly conducted and was without any form of violence.

They said the Distinguished Senator should be allowed to work for the people ’’Therefore, he should be allowed to continue with his good works for the overall development of Ibiono Ibom Local Government area, Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State in general’’.

Ibiono Ibom Grand Alliance pointed out that their consolation is in the fact that the case and the judgment thereafter is a pre-election matter in which there is room for an appeal even up to the Supreme Court. ’’We sincerely believe that justice will be done in any of the Appellate Courts. We hereby call on our members nationwide and the supporters of Senator Bassey Albert Akpan to remain calm for Jehovah God Almighty will surely give us justice and victory at the end’’.

They also pray God Almighty to give our Grand Patron and Mentor, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan the strength, wisdom, direction and fortitude to handle these challenges and temptation before him and want him to continue to remain focused for God is with him always, Amen while promising to continue to stand by and with him always.
